The Forsus appliance is a fixed orthodontic appliance used to correct overbite conditions. The Forsus works by shifting the upper jaw backward and pulling the lower jaw forward.
How does the Forsus appliance work?
Using spring rod coils that append to a band on the upper molars with a metal spring coupled to the wire on the base, the Forsus appliance promotes healthy jaw development. It supports the jaw bones in developing proportionately and in alignment with each other.
Typically, a patient will wear this device anywhere from 4 to 8 months. The Forsus is so effective that even the most severe overbite conditions can be corrected with this device!
The Forsus springs are concealed up inside the cheeks and are connected to braces. This device doesn’t require any extra impressions or steps on the patients’ side and once it’s in place, it doesn’t require any further adjustments.

One of the biggest advantages of the Forsus device is how easy it is to use. This device treats overbites efficiently, with fewer steps and less compliance necessary. It’s not as noticeable as elastics and other treatments used for overbite correction.
The Forsus is also easy to clean! Your brushing and flossing routine will remain relatively the same. There is no need to get any special brushing equipment to brush with the Forsus.

How to Ensure the Best Results with the Forsus Appliance
There are not many problems associated with the Forsus device! This device is sturdy and durable. However, patients may experience one of the springs popping out of place.
